Top quality meat products! That was thr verdict of the judges at one of the UK meat industry's most prestigious evaluation events when they sampled entries from Q butchers Laurie Wakeham Butchers of 59 High Street Bridge nr Canterbury, Kent.

Among the ten awards won by the local firm at the Guild of Q Butchers' "Smithsfield Award" Product Evaluation Event at Milton Keynes were five golds for their Chicken Burger, Stuffed Chicken Legs, Beef Olives, Kent Hoppicker Pie and Roast Beef.

After a detailed assessment by the judging panel, made up of experts from the Meat & Livestock Commission, the Worshipful Company of Bucthers and leading trade figures, the products were adjudged to score an impressive 95% plus in both the raw state and when cooked.

In addition to the gold awards, Laurie Wakeham Butchers also won:

	Glazed Ham	Silver
	Old Charlie Sausage	Bronze
	Cumberland Sausage	Bronze
	Stuffed Loin of Pork	Bronze

The Guild of Q Butcher's Product Evaluation was in six categories - sausages, burgers, cooked meats and roasts, pies and bakery, bacon and cured products and kitchen ready products. To achieve gold, products must have a 95% and over rating, silver 89% and over, bronze 83% and over.
